  2. @ Sheila – to be honest i’ve never actually heard of a homeless person freezing to death, even though you would think it occur occasionally.

    brrrrrrrrrrr 17 degrees is just not cool.

  3. we get it here..but i believe it’s a much more rare occurrence since the “code blue” practice went into effect. i don’t have statistics.

    essentially, temps below 32 degrees warrant code blue status…which opens the doors to emergency shelter facilities and mobilizes organizations…like Moveable Feast….to assist getting shelter occupants off the streets.

  4. These photos are so heartbreaking. I remember in Philly when it got freezing, the city would issue a CODE BLUE so all homeless people had to go into some shelter. I can’t imagine trying to sleep in such freezing weather.

  5. This sign really bothers me. If someone needs a coat – I doubt they can wait 2 weeks. Especially in this weather.
