…hazards on…pulled off to the side of the road on greenmount.

maybe it’s just me, but i think the city should be able to do something with these properties.  possibly tear them down?  gut them out?  looks like a potential area for affordable housing, as opposed to idle property.  ahhh the possibilities.  neighborhood pride perhaps?  i wonder how long they’ve been sitting here like this and the larger question…who owns them?

mayor dixon…what should be done?

  1. you mean indicted mayor dixon? lol.

there’s soooooo many buildings/houses like this all over the city. i think they’re slowly but surely tearing them down and either building new housing, or trying to sell them commercially. we should see a big change in places like this in the next 3-6 years i’d say.

awesome pictures though. it’s weird how they all look the same…all boarded the same.

  2. How about the units to the right of your first picture, the ones with little fenced in yards, are they boarded up as well? What about the building in the background? It’s a shame we allow properties to become so run down and uninhabitable that they are boarded up when we have so many homeless and needy in our city, heck for that matter our country. I think it’s time we start taking care of our own.

  3. I bet in ‘their day’ these were beautiful row houses. Too bad someone couldn’t buy cheap, renovate and turn into something like specialty shops or back to housing. I know in Cleveland we’ve got a lot of this kinda stuff. Stuffs boarded up everywhere. They are slowing bringing them down but not quick enough. The housing values sink for anyone living around them.

You would think it would be relatively cheap to bring it all down and the money they could make reselling the land would be good. But I guess maybe that’s too simple for a politician.
