drive-by shootings

This makes me sick.  How long have these places been sitting here?  Apparently long enough to require cinder-blocking the doors and windows on the 1st floor to keep people out.  How long will they remain in this condition?  Who takes the time and expense to let a property sit?  C’mon Baltimore.  This is pathetic.

It looks like shit, creates a safe haven for undesirable behavior, and degrades the value of the homes and businesses around it.  Get my point?

  1. To get to school every (weekday) morning, I take the MARC Train from Martin State Airport (about 20min east of the city, I think) to Penn Station in Mount Vernon, and if you think this image is bad, you should see the dilapidated houses along the train rails. It’s not just one street of bricked and boarded up, broken down houses, its whole neighborhoods – there are some places that are so long-abandoned that there are literally trees and such growing out of the buildings.

    It just baffles me.

  2. Sometimes…it’s just a really sad city we live. I may have to travel the route your talking about and get some shots of those areas. The more light we shed upon them…maybe there’s a chance someone will will try to clean those areas up.
